The one thing I really wanted to remember about this day was how the children followed a group of us around to try and sell their toys. "For your friend, sister, brother, mom, dad, enemies." They said anything and everything to try and sell the items. It made me think about how persistent they were and then thought about how young they are. These children are selling things to support their families. They have no choice and it is so sad to me that they cant be "typical" kids, (in the sense that kids are supposed to play and not work). Kids are supposed to be carefree-have no worries except to be children. Unfortunately these children will not get the same experience as other children. It is such a different way of living and I would not want to have my child unable to be a child.
We also went to a cemetery today; the graves were so colorful. Families painted them whatever their family color was. We were all able to see a snippet of a Mayan Blessing. The priest was speaking (what she was saying, I have no clue) and putting something from a water bottle on the ashes. It was all really cool and their cemeteries are a lot better than the U.S. ones.
Lastly, the market. I dont have much to say about it except: crowded, smelly, small/big at the same time, scary (I had to carefully guard my stuff), and an experience.
